i met some family mems repping the product, (which by the way looked quite sweet )..they explained they were in but that the biz was NOT an official fam project. they did not seem to use it as a hook for activated or anything,(in fact, quite the opposite it seemed)..just a product they produced, in partnership w/ a major christian company, that supported their home and shared positive message. of course, no doubt they tithe, but other than that i don't think it directly benefitted the fam. frankly, considering the production and dist. costs, and that it was a partnership, i don't think there was all that much cash in it. if you put them out of business, they will just have to resort to selling the strait fam stuff again, which does directly benifit the fam. org...and had a questionable impact on the individuals involved.
there is something that rubs you wrong about the misrepresentation...and the sad stories from japan. but like the campaigns against child labor making shoes for kmart..in the end if they close the factory, not sure how it helps the 3rd world villagers. perhaps it will make those involved count the cost of building on the fam. foundation. i know realising that no matter what independent project i might try to launch b4i left, it would always have an albatross until i made the break. i pray some good will come, and perhaps some will decide to cut ties.
