Associating with Family Members

What are your thoughts on associating with Family members? I bring this up for personal reasons that I can't really put on the board.
But, I've been thinking about meeting up with some Family members, for various reasons.
Would any of you ever make contact with old 'friends' in the Family?
If yes, WHY would you meet up with them?
If now, why would you never do so?
Do you think that there are ANY reasons to re-connect with old friends in the Family?
Is it possible to have a friendship with Family members? Or, does the Family always have an alterior motive for befriending someone who has left?
Just curious as to what others think about this.
