I agree with most of what you are saying. We all had different experiences. I would even say that I gained something positive through all that experience. It may also be a mix bag of diverse elements external to us but that had influence over us. We all carry a lot and not all of that is good nor it is bad. I don't want to get into the differences between those who knew the outside world and those who could have never known how it was because they were born in the cult.
What the post above was about and I am talking about is the process of brainwashing. Peer pressure plays a major role as does our own will to believe. Whatever the reasons behind when we joined, there was a submission of will, a yielding of responsibility on some major issues that we would not have normally accepted. But we did.
