I believe he doesn't like some Family policies/party line but he just has such a sweet deal where he is. He remains nominally in the Family because FCF is his cash cow and gives him (the ex-Prime Minister) the salary and pension that none of the peons got, they were just dumped with hardly the fare to leave the Home and cursed as backsliders as they went.
What's the difference? Do Peter & Maria love Grant? Probably not. But Grant knows so much top level stuff that Maria and Peter are willing to let him have his FCF kingdom as long as he gives them lip service and keeps his mouth shut. The last thing they want is Grant getting a book deal and spilling the beans about the top level hanky-panky of the Family and bringing it down. So my guess is they have some kind of unspoken agreement, and if Grant has Peter by the balls you have to admire his cunning.
But if that's true that would make Grant such a gutless compromiser. If his eyes are even half open and he doesn't act on the truth he knows, then he's compromising for material gain. At least the rest of us had the guts to walk out the door with the shirts on our backs.
Who knows what's going on in Grant's mind? Worse yet, what if he's still a true believer and really buys into the Family B.S. but denies he's a Family member and threatens to sue those who say he is. All for money and to protect his cash cow.
