Here are some sites to check out:
The article 'The "Not Me" Myth' by Margaret Thaler Singer Ph.D. at www.ideajournal.com/01msinger.orwell.html
Mind Control Techniques at www.religio.de/richard/mindtrl.html
www.csj.org
These are just a few sites with descriptions. See what you think. An interesting article for people that have been sexually and/or physically abused in the family as well as psychological, spiritual abuse, any of these: go to www.mekong.net/cambodia/broken.htm
It is a very touching story.
Of course, the family and scientology have sites to debunk the idea of "mind control" or "brainwashing". Have you noticed how repetitious the letters are (Maria's and Bergs) i.e. IRFers Beware and the Vandari one? How there seems to be a choice, but if you make it, it is the wrong one. And here are the consequences. Think of the letters about the Crystals, "Are you facing toward the pillar?" In other words don't examine outside info. Don't think thoughts that aren't in line with family thought otherwise there are consequences. Also the endtime dreams, nightmares, etc. and the belief that the family is the elite movement of God in the endtime, with all the answers. I believe I learned to replace my conscience and that inner voice that says something is wrong with this picture, with the thought that my inner voice or conscience was of the devil because it didn't agree with, for example, pimping and child molestation. Therefore something is wrong with me. I believed this for awhile after I left the family. Now, over time, I can think for myself and make choices that were anathema in the family. Again, I am very glad I am out of the toilet and cleansed in the light of free thought.
