The "Law of Love" in context of these quotes

A lot of people who have left the Family still think the "Law of Love" was basically good and unselfish and such wonderful loving freedom. But you have to interpret that in light of these kind of very macho-centered, selfish quotes where women were second-class citizens whose very existence was to give happiness and sexual pleasure to men. The Law of Love was, as Berg described it, "a selfish beast let out of a cage."

I know some women enjoyed the free sex with no strings attached, but let's think about the many single mothers with all kinds of kids from different men, who were finally kicked out of the Family with no support.

You see, there was a follow-up Law after the "Law of Love," and that law was the "One Wife" philosphy: "our kids belong to ALL of us." It was the ultimate abrogation of responsibility. In theory, One Wife was supposed to be the height of utopian unselfishness, but in practice it let men go free with no need to support or love their kids.

Berg even went to far as to say that GOD was "worse than an infidel" if he didn't care for all these Jesus babies. Not the men. God.

So you men run along now, you have no obligation. But you, God, wait a second, stay back. I need to talk to you. You God, YOU'RE the one who's "worse than an infidel" if you don't look after these fatherless kids.

Both "Law of Love" and "One Wife" were tragedies looking for a place to happen.
