Yep - that's it. You've spelled it out exactly as it is. Obviously, we all have giant needs. They are just different.
I'm trying to put myself in the shoes of someone having to leave their whole family behind and be totally on their own at such a young age and worse, having no point of reference like we did - the only point of reference they have is from a F. viewpoint.
Several years ago before I even came to these boards I just happened to watch a 20/20 documentary type of show and on it were a handful of young SGAs (sorry, I use this term only because it's easy to use as I hate labels too) and they were talking about the abuse they suffered in the F. I felt so bad for them - I felt like they had no voice, no one to speak for them and it was hard to watch. I understand why they would say they had no choice in the matter and why they would suffer from that.
I do think there are victims and perpetrators in both avenues, regardless of whether you were born in or voluntarily joined. I met an exmember here who had joined as a teenager, like 15 or something ridiculously young, because her sisters had joined and she followed them in. Unfortunately for her, that was at the beginning of the FFing seige and she went to Hong Kong under Ho who was a tyrant and sent her out at a very tender age FFing. Just because she "joined" voluntarily, IMO, she's right there with those SGAs because she was so young and really unable to make an informed and experienced decision and was following her sisters. She is to this day totally traumatized from her experience.
So, yes, I hate labels too because they often don't apply, yet I can understand what they are trying to say. Am I making any sense here?
