I think your dream is a very good one. And you are right about the West. I believe that it is possible to have a transitional living place, maybe one to start where professionals from the outside come in and assist with therapy and counseling. I believe that any degreed professional with the desire to learn about the specifics of the family dynamics could easily help suvivors of the family get on their feet. And that would be survivors of all ages. I don't believe that those who are not second generation "made their beds and should lie in them" or stay in the family because they have already been in it that long. Since the majority of people that post here are in their forties, I find it insensitive and offensive that others have suggested this. In my city there is a place where women who have been in a battering situation or ANY situation that has landed them without resource, can come and get 18 months worth of housing, training, job search classes, clothes, shoes, therapy (individual and group)drug abuse classes and therapy if needed and every area of support. This org. started out being privately funded. I can talk to you more about it via e-mail.
