This board has a different focus. Although there are many posts of the kind you wanted, yes there are also the kinds that you described as people with the past still affecting them.
Try the Academic board on this site. A board is what you make it. If you want to start a trend, start contributing. It seems that's what that space there is exactly meant for.
If you feel that the past doesn't have a grip on you and you don't have an overwhelming need to discuss and process it, and you have moved on, I congratulate you, I am truly happy for you. The COG experience is different for everybody. I can relate because I am more like you. But if you ever feel that you need to talk about something related to the past, please feel welcome to post here.
