Why Maria & Peter gave the "Vandari" response

OK, maybe I'm stating the obvious here, but you know, it's surprising sometimes what we as ex-members think is a given, that people really don't catch. But this is my take on why Peter and Maria gave the "Vandari" response to Daniel's letter.

First of all, didya notice how LONG it took them to answer his letter?

They were probably speechless for the first couple months, too busy mopping up the floor from where they peed their pants. I think they agonized and wrestled and talked themselves hoarse in Think Tank sessions (as much thinking as they do, that is) just trying to figure out how to respond.

At first I bet they wanted to just quietly ignore it, like the ostrich sticking its head in the sand, just hoping what Daniel talked about would go away. But a few saner people (and again, you gotta wonder why they're still in the cult) said, "Ya know Mama, I think this ain't no Empty Wind. It ain't gonna downgrade to a tropical storm and it's packin' winds of 400 mph."

I'm sure their first knee-jerk reaction was to think, "Let's get Ado and Kanah to write up a dirty smear-imony about their son, Daniel". But that probably fell through cause they don't have dirt on him, PLUS they realized =Whooo-eeeee!= you DON'T wanna polarize all the SGAs and get them mad as hornets! "Nopie, nope. This can't be a full frontal attack. Let's not smear him. Bad idea. Next?"

So they thought and they thought and they thought until finally they threw up their hands and admitted, "We have no defense. Well, at least let's tell our own Family SGs not to go there and read the lies." How did they do that? Simple. Talk all their false prophets and prophetesses into some kind of mass hysteria stupor of how "the Devil, Say-tin himself is possessing our enemies to attack Gawd's work" and then, say, "OK now, let's pray and see that God tells us about our evil, demon-possessed, Satan-inspired SGA enemies."

And out comes the "Vandari" demon revelation. Well,if you can call it a revelation. More like "crap in, crap out."

And I bet it was only for internal use, to totally demonize ex-members to get their own SGs to be scared shitless to go to MovingOn and these other ex-member sites. But it's totally backfired on them now, leaking out to the boards.

First it shows how weak they are. Like,THAT was their best shot? C'mon, Tiger Woods they ain't. It also shows how desperate they are, when their "shields of defense" are only toilet paper thin.
