Before he left for the 'field' he had been diagnosed with some sort of tumour cancer in his neck. A sister who had used an effective natural cure for cancer (had been cured of ovary cancer) had put him on a natural diet. It was a very aggressive treatment and because of the time and natural requirements it came to the attention of Berg(who was in the Philippines at the same time), who told him in a letter that was published before all that he should trust God and not any other treatment,(not pill, not natural, just God) He accused him of worshipping the puppets(I guess it didn't have anything to do with the success of those Puppets in the Philippines.) Anyway Peter decided to 'trust' God as the mouthpiece of God had directed him to.
Berg said how proud he was of him and how wonderful it was that he was now a true son and blah blah blah. Much later a photo of Peter came out with his neck blown out to the size of football. Peter was asking for prayer and said that he knew God was going to do it and that he was walking by faith and not by sight(paraphrasing from memory)
Well berg blasted WS for allowing this photo to be published and told them it would hurt (the stupid peons) faith to see how God had not answered prayer and that it was Peters lack of faith that had done it. He then went on to say that Peter should have had surgery or taken pills or something to have stopped it.(can you believe the back-pedalling of this guy?) He washed his hands of poor Peter, who was sent back to Australia in disgrace.
He sent the last of his days in the hospital, the homes refused to let his sister(his flesh sister who was also in the family) see him(she would sneak out and do so anyway. She was devastated by the way the family treated her brother, but the worst was how badly Peter was devastated dying completely forsaken(except by his mother) and feeling like a complete failure for not having faith.
Peter his sister told me was extremely intelligent and wonderful artist who loved God and tried so hard to please him. She still hurts at the wasted life of her brother.
