Rick did do some crappy stuff as a leader but like Marina said below, after he left he went through real deep remorse and apologized as much as he could. He bared his soul on national TV that he had been ordered to have sex with Peter Amsterdam's daughter. He did a tremendous amount to expose the cult and he died in the process.
He was so destroyed by that Victor Camp in Japan that he couldn't live anymore. I read an old newsletter by you, Sam, where he said that the cult had stripped away his soul. A psychologist told him that the horrible exorcisms he was put through were like being gang-raped over and over again. When he arrived home a broken man from Japan his parents thought he looked like a survivor from Dacau.
I won't deny Rick had his faults and hurt people. But he is just about the only leader that evr came clean afterwards. Rick was one of the best examples of making things right and sacrificing himself to expose the cult. He went the distance.
