He never confused these two. He (David Berg) taught that sex was the conduit to salvation not salvation itself. Given women the power to adjudicate salvation was too much power in their hands. As a teaching that could have ruined his (Berg's) money scheme as all women would be like Maria. But being a conduit was different, women had the same status as tools, just like everybody else below the prophet of profit and his commonlaw wife Maria. Also, having women as active participants and tools for that salvation would offset the guilt and disgust women must have felt most or all of the time.
