Yeah, I think understanding helps a lot. What has happened with me is that I got a lot of the understanding, but the "feelings" just weren't there. Just that numb existence feeling, which sometimes went from placid to explosive within seconds. But I could really work well in crisis situations and still can. (Speaking figuratively here): I could know someone, watch them get hit by a car and die and think "Oh. s(he) was a nice person. Too bad." But it is getting those damn vulnerable feelings out, without the pretty package, and keep on doing it in the best places to do it (therapy or a support board!!) In my case--both! That is the kicker. Some days are better than others, but overall, as time goes by, I think walking thru it with supportive people is what is most necessary to get to another side of it. And each person has their own personal time table. So, I guess I have come to the right place? haha
