It probably depends on what part of the world they are in and their situation. As you stated, many do not have an internet connection and if they do, it's controlled by the local shepherd. I think Maria took care of the "freedom" people were having with the internet by making it off limits to most of the F. I know one home where it's basically one huge family and the kids never get to go on line, not even to answer their bros. and sisters email to them. And the oldest is 20 years old!!!! Imagine, they won't even let their own children grow up and by that age they had already rebelled from their own parents' rule. Now, in other parts of the world were it's not as "conservative" - it might be a different story.
