when I told my kids I was so sorry for letting that happen, they told me they weren't mad or anything, they were just remembering. It was me that was feeling the worst because I know it was wrong and as a parent, I failed for letting wrong things happen.
When we left the F. we went on welfare and had very little of anything to speak of, but I always made sure there was plenty of food. So, you see, those things we allowed in the F. were going against our better judgment and our nature. There are things we allowed that in our right minds, we never would have allowed. It's nice to forget the past and go on, except when it shouts at you in the present.
