Haven't seen you for some time! You knew me over on LoLo's board as RO. I agree with you about the fact that there are cult like organizations in many shapes and forms. The F. just happens to be worse because you can't leave it as easily and a lot of damage is done before one finally leaves.
Another thing, you can't really legislate righteousness and force people to live the Christian life as you feel it should be lived. I live in a tiny community and there is a pastor who works on the crew here and no one likes him. He's a nice guy, but he forces his religion on people, don't drink, don't smoke, don't live in sin, go to church, blah, blah, blah and then on job days, he's nowhere to be found working and is instead sitting on his computer working on his own personal stock market, leaving everyone in the lurch. He's not very well liked because of that, they view him as a hypocrite. That says something to me, actions speak louder than words. People judge you by the life you live and that is a bigger witness than passing out tracts, sometimes. The F. passes out tracts but they don't really witness because they don't take time with people, they don't really care about their lives. i remember that used to really bother me. I like our church here because they have a lot of programs that spend a lot of time with people and that is more important, I think.
