....that a lot of us when we joined didn't see any of the nasty stuff you guys have described up here. We genuinely believed we were joining a soul-winning army and wanted to give our lives to an idealistic cause. And because we were the peons, we didn't see the behind-the-scenes stuff. So we just kept on going witnessing and then gradually all the smelly stuff started coming out of Berg's bed pan, meaning Pandora's box under his bed where he kept all his weird doctrines and shit.
That's when we started saying, "Well, I still believe in 95% of what the Family teaches." A year later we were down to believing in 90%, then down to 80% and meanwhile putting our doubts in bundles of faith up on high shelves as fast as we could wrap them.
But yeah, I think we did drive our cars on the fumes of "the good old days" for quite a while. We were hooked on the good bait but got the steel hook in our mouths.
