You make it sound like Joseph is more intelligent and somehow superior to those who fell victim to the COG/Family cult but yet somehow condescends to those of us who did? I really don't think it's a matter of intelligence. Possibly a matter of fortune and opportunity. And on that point what makes you think he's anybody's friend?
