Even in poor countries most women can't have twenty. I'm not saying you shouldn't use your common sense.
I stopped because of health reasons, it was dangerous for me and any further babies, plus getting so tired from the pregnancy that I wasn't much good to anyone.
As a matter of fact here we have a situation where there is a take over, from people willing to have lots of babies, and people willing to have one or two or none.
In China their large population prevented the assimlation from forigein influence. Somehow even though proverty isn't good for you they have coped. Of course now they go to the opposite extreme and kill any child beyond one. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens there.
Anyway, I know I wouldn't have been happier with less children, my kids have been something that always kept me getting out of bed in the morning and putting breakfast on the table.
Proverty alone is not just a dererant factor for children. It usually has to be accompanied by other factors that make children lose heart, such as sexual or physcial abuse. To many risks factors together definatly effect childrens happiness and being able to function.
