It's something within yourself that condemns you, I dont think it has anything to do with public opinion.
In the Old Testament you had people throwing their very alive babies in the fire. I wonder how many mothers hearts haunted them even though society accepted it as the thing to do?
It's not a mind thing as much as your heart.
I'm not saying it to condemn anyone.
But I've heard of lots of cases where a victim was raped and intended to adopt the baby, the changed her mind at the birth.(I'm sure there are stories on the other side too)
Personally I don't think my kids(since leaving the family) could have done better. There aren't many kids no matter how rich, have as much love and support from their family. And having so many brothers and sisters they can totally rely on.
I really don't think the answer to kids happiness is materialism.
Of course what you say about the Indians may be true. But it could also be true is maybe thats why there were to few of them to stand up to the white invasion.
