by no means did i imply that the f. was in anyway democratic, or a healthy place to raise kids. but i think it is dishonest and counterproductive to make assumptions about most homes behaving cruelly, w/ only self serving motives. we just don't know the same people perhaps. but i believe blanket statements such as that undermine other valid arguments in the minds of sincere family mems. the truth is plenty to make the case against the f., w/o making sweeping, unsupported statements many would see as distortions.
by the way, i can guarantee you no one is trying to get me or my kids back in!! that door swung one way! ha!(you'd really have to meet my kids to catch the humor in that.)
