I guess you're right - even the gypsy dancing was kind of hypnotic. I thought about this a lot too. I've seen the Hindu religion and how they dance around and chant and get into a trance. The Hari Krishna do the same thing. There's an ex-Hari Krishna who has this urge to go to the temple just to chant because it's such an addiction. I agree with you. I just listen to the radio and pop songs or opera or whatever.
