Well, if you're a good enough aim, you could at least shoot em in the eyes so they couldn't see you. We had a bear in our town for a few days. He finally just left on his own accord, thankfully. One night we were at the school house and he was across the way at the cookhouse. He stared down my hubby, it was eerie. My hubby had his .33 pointed right at him, but it wasn't bear season and how would clean up the mess? But, if he'd come at us, we were ready.
