It's one of those no win things for some people, I guess.
He used to run it like a commune and any money anyone living there made was collected and used to run the home. Some people thought that was too Family like.
Now, they give him the weekly rent (again, Christian says it was $75, Hammer says $100). And they keep whatever else they make for themselves.
I'm not sure what apartments cost in Laurel, but around here you can't get one for $300-$400 per month, and if you can afford an apartment, some young people don't have the credit rating or employment history to get in the door. For some of these kids, getting the parents to co-sign is out of the question, because they are worse off financially than the kids.
