You're right, it was Joseph being reposted here that started all this. But then it goes back further to ANOTHER post on Crossfire where Joseph's wife, Jemivah was being strongly criticized because she was friends with some people who were still in the Family. So this is an ongoing two-board thing.
My point is you can befriend regular Family members sincerely but watch out about fooling yourself if you're "friends" with big leaders or PR people. As far as they're concerned they're just using you. If there was no PR value in being your friend or they couldn't get any mileage out of you, they wouldn't give you the time of day.
Of course you can "befriend" them knowing that but then your friendship will be a one-way street. I don't know if I really even need to explain this since we all were in the Family once and remember how we used outsiders. Even our own system family members were people to be used. We even sat around waiting for our loved ones to die so we could get the inheritance money.
