Do I get a toaster for winning Quote of the week?

It's interesting watching the discussion about that idea. Especially the immediate reaction of "Are some people that stupid?".

I guess I would have to answer that question, "yes".

I'm not just talking about the ex-member community. Human nature itself seems to be to know what is right, and to do what we do regardless.

We know we should buy low and sell high. Yet, everyone here in the US bought stock when the market was at 11,000 and now, everyone is selling while it is 7,000.

Are we really that stupid? Yeah, we are.

The thing that I observed that caused me to make that comment is the treatment of the members themselves as evil. When I talk to ex-members, none of them tell me that they are or ever were evil people. In their own minds, by and large, they seem to feel that other evil people mislead them, but that they themselves were always good people.

So, are all the good people out of The Family, and only evil people left?

Or does that evil person suddently become good when they leave?

If the people still inside are not evil, but are just like the other ex-members (before they left), then where is the compassion for them?

Those who do show compassion for current members are the most harshly treated in the ex-member community. They are also branded as evil, or worse yet "Pro-Family".

It is all about mindset. Anyone who is different than me is bad, wrong, evil.

The term that comes to mind is Narcissism.
