I also agree that Jules site is great for letting these kids have their say and vent as much as they want. They need that and it's good for them. However, not every SGA is like that and there needs to be a place for them too, I think, such as yourself. My own children do not hold it against me. Of course, I made the bold and daring attempt at leaving with as many of them as I could. Even the oldest who was 14 when we returned and 15 when I quit tithing has done nothing but thank me for taking him out. He has never once criticized me - maybe made fun of me - but never critized. And I still hear my daughter's remark when I tried to apologize to her she simply stated - "But mom, you were only doing what you thought was right."
I also felt like what you mentioned before of wanting them to experience more in life than just F. life, that they could not make proper decisions with such limited knowledge and that bothered me. But the hold that berg had on my mind was terrible and if you read my story you will see how that hold kept me even AFTER I was fully out of a home. I tried to have devotions and read Grandpa letters while my new husband went to watch TV. While I was trying to tune my guitar, I'd notice one kid after another leaving the room. It's kind of funny now to look back and see how silly I was trying to keep the embers of a lifestyle going that I thought was so Godly and God would be angry at me if I didn't.
Also, do you really think the F. has less control? I don't. I think it's subtle and that's worse - because it's not as obvious or blatant. We had one member here who was offered a job to make some extra income and he refused saying he was too busy. That's the fruit of Maria's latest GNs telling them to quit their jobs. And the parents are being told not to let their kids hang out at the malls or listen to other music. Just look at Maria's recent letter to that SGA that had some good points and tried to present it so nicely. She wants complete control and she knows how to get it. Yes, I believe Berg was clever at it as with most guru type leaders, they all have that knack, how else would they get all that love and devotion? It has been said from a very reliable source that was there at the time, that when they cleaned out Berg's room at TSC after he left they found books on Korean brainwashing and mind control. Something to think about.
