Thanks Rocky. I really appreciate your points of view, your virtue and your fortitude in dealing with the "philistines" (Have you ever seen a movie called Big Night? :)
As far as my point of view, well, it is embedded in my gender and it has been waiting to SCREAM all the 15 years I was in the group. :) I was given James 3 to read time and again (the 'tongue'), I was targeted and humiliated, I was given the 'handicap of natural ability' and a LOT of retraining sessions to try to stamp that "unyieldedness" out of me. I remember in one specific place part of the retraining included the powers that be coming in to check on my humility condition by coercing sexual services. (think: foreign country, no money, no place to go back to, young children, etc etc)
What do we call THAT? Can we have a thread about rape, and the effect that kind of stuff had on some of us women? Do I think maybe a Bobbit treatment could have given a hint to a few guys? :) I am not advocating it, but god only knows what a person should do to make one get the point once in a while? (ok ok, I am waiting for the mobbing of the forgiveness crowd - fine. You can forgive, so forgive Lorena Bobbit as well, AFTER the fact, right? I guess what is forgiveness for the goose IS forgiveness for the gander, right? :)
That unyieldedness is what kept me from totally dying, but I still carry lots of scars. How would anybody call the systematic practice of dismantling individuals physically, (pregnancy after pregnancy after pregnancy in poor conditions and under duress) emotionally and psychologically?
Break'm, right, Berg used to say? And quite a few people broke, and now they are carrying the pieces.
So, any takers for the forgiving Lorena Bobbit and rape thread? :) I doubt it. It has never been a popular topic in this community. Too much christian penis fright. :)
