The stupidity of the way the Family looked(s) at sickness is that they don't take care of it, they ignore it hoping God will heal it.
I don't fully support the medical establishment, but have chosen to study nature and its healing powers. But I have learned that you CANNOT ignore illness. You have to work at healing it somehow, someway, and God has given us the means to do it, whether you choose to do so naturally or through the medical of modern medicine.
With all I am learning, it strikes me as idiotic that we would simply pray for someone and "anoint them with oil", using a replacement instead, and thinking it was some sort of symbolication of God coming down to heal someone. If you study the Bible, they usually used very expensive and rare oils for healing puposes, because these herbs and oils contain healing powers, it wasn't just a symbol, it was using the gift of nature to heal.
And the Family first condemned people to death cause of their lack of faith for healing, and as chastisement for their sins (Peter Puppet), then finds that it has to reverse its thinking in previous years cause so many of its members were contracting fatal sicknesses, but nobody is (was) educated about how to handle cancer, lupus, brain disorders, learning disorders, and other through any other means than:
1. Pray and God will heal you supernaturally
2. Go to the doctor if you don't have faith for 1
Rather than encouraging people to educate, educate, educate themselves about their sickness and do all they can to recover in whatever way they have to. Unfortunately many left it till it was too late, and suffered a perhaps untimely death through it.
The Family's own restriction on contact with ideas outside of the group, unless the leadership has first checked it out, has been the death of some of their members, and now their further discouragement of the youth to seek a higher education is once again putting them on the level of stupidity, they could have some very smart kids in the group, but are restricting them from it.
