Hi Marina! Thanks for your post. I am very sorry to hear that your daughters have suffered sexual abuse. I also agree with you that not many have the opportuniy or time to really look into the issue. One of my hopes is to see all of us become more aware of this issue so that we can ensure that our frineds and loved ones get help and something like ther family will not happen again.
I am following the Catholic bishops conference on dallasnews.com I actually am somewhat confident they will develop the necessary policies. Within the Church in Canada there are really strong policies which I know the Bishops are using as a template. I have all of these documents and policies and Archbishop staff in Vancouver think the US church will have no choice. The thousands of honest and non abusive priests, millions of angry catholics and a relentless quest from the press and victim lawsuits will force the church into comprehensive policies. I think the days of cover-up are done as the cost will now be to high.
I am not a Catholic apologist but my heart goes out to all the Catholics who really are trying to understand who God is and are not abusers.
