is 8 years old. About 2 weeks ago she got her hair severely pulled at school. It seemed like nothing at the time. Five days later I discovered a large swollen area on her head, like a big blister, but under the deep layers of the skin. Took her to the clinic and the Dr. said it was most likely when her hair was pulled it was hard enough to detatch the skin from the scalp, and so the body rushed fluids to that area to fill the gap.
She has no other symptons of a concussion or anything weird, dizziness, vomiting, blackouts, loss of appetite and energy.
Yesterday we discovered at the edges of the swelling some lumps had formed, it seemed like to bone had lumped up, and under the swelling the scalp is indented. We took her back to the dr. who directed us to the bigger hospital for x-rays and more if necessary.
He said that possibly the pull on her hair was strong enough to pull the cranium bones apart, and there could be complications. If so, she may have to go in for major surgery to correct the bone formation. To say the least, I am worried and upset.
That's what's up with me today. Other than that, things are as fine as usual. The cherry blossoms are in bloom and we are planning a spring picnic, Easter is almost here so we're making eggs soon, and the kids are all graduating to their new grades in a couple weeks (the school year changes in spring here).
