I don't agree. The hospitals in the states (and I've travelled a lot too) are a lot better than most countries I travelled to, unless they were missionary hospitals and American. The government hospitals were very sub par and sometimes downright awful. In the States, they legally cannot turn you away if you need medical care - at least not in an emergency life or death situation and there is always government health care. It's a known fact that women will run across the border from Mexico just before delivery so that their child will be born a U.S. citizen and they can get medical care. Many people come to the states for medical care because they cannot get that kind of care in their country. Socialized medicine doesn't make for a lot of incentives to make progress since there would be no financial reward.
