I think there are two points at issue.
1. On the legal side: the criminal code( Canadian) regarding sexual assault/abuse of minor children (18 yrs or under) notes that any individual having sexual contact with a minor with more than two years age differance from 14yrs or older, ie: an 18 yr old male with a 14 year old girl is guilty of an offence - if an adult has sexual contact with any child 13 years or younger there is no defence - in other words there is no viable defence for an adult to make any sexual contact with a child - ever - it is always a crime- it is also important to note that that does not make it Ok for adults to make sexual contact with 14 yr olds that is still illegal - in my work with sexual abuse victims I notice older children always seem to suffer greatly even when they have willingly entered into a sexual relationship with a predatory adult and their suffering generally increases as they get older.
2. The other issue is the moral side of this question - I think people often use cultural differences or a lack of age barriers to cloud the issue. - Children do not have the fully developed adult capacity to really appreciate the impact of having sex with others - I believe that any adult who sexually touches an under-age child is exploiting them and is being carried away by lust or other dark reasonings - The impact of DB's doctrines in this area has created a monster that has left a huge wave of victims - It is a fact that many victims of abuse really suffer in adulthood - all exers who have suffered this abuse will need our prayers and continued support for years to come - I have come to the conclusion that it is a sin with serious results - sexual exploitation of children is a dirty buisness -I hope I do not come across as a know it all - you invited comments so I just could not resist - I also feel very strongly about this issue - in Canada the Davitito book could actually get someone in possession of it for any reasons other provable educational or investigational purposes several years in jail
