Tabloid journalism

Posted by Acheick on September 15, 2003 at 07:08:27

My neighbor regularly gives me her old Enquirer,Globe, etc., type of tabloid magazines. I like looking at the pictures and doing the crossword (ahem, Archivest) - anyone can do the crosswords in those magazines. I guess they dumb them down to their clientele? Anyway, I am always amused at the "dirt" they are always digging up from someone's past and blowing it up out of porportion. Sadly, these things do get remembered even if the truth comes out. Another sad thing I felt was that this board lately started to resemble such a type of reporting. Sadly, it seems others gleefuly jumped in to make it even worse. Amidst all this rubble, important things were lost and important posts. I, for one, wanted to concentrate on that very well written letter by LB to Maria and have contemplated sending it my very self-righteous and loyalist daughter. I wanted to know what you all thought about that. But no, I got embroiled in this stupid trivia. I would like to make a request that if you are going to post something, could it be a little more meaningful? I know it would help me and I'm sure others too.
