I agree with your analysis of how society has become much more aware of the definition of abuse. That part was excellent. But your statement below was like gasoline ready to throw on a fire:
"some of us didn't know better. some of us thought it wasn't abuse if a boy was being sucked off.we thought we were joining the peace corps.some of us, we really were that naieve.that's what we can be guilty for."
Imagine yourself a child born in the Family and sexually and physically abused and then reading the statement above that "we thought we were joining the peace corps." Well, we DIDN'T join the peace corps. We joined a sexually abusive cult. I understand what you mean that what we thought we joined (a "soul-winning army") was different than what it became. But it DID become a horrible cult. That is fact and history.
Also, you said, "some of us, we really were that naieve.that's what we can be guilty for."
Well, yes, we were naive, but ignorance of the law is no excuse. Those who committed crimes are actually guilty of those crimes no matter if they thought that it was a crime at the time. If they apologize sincerely to those they've injured, maybe some of the damage can be undone, and that's wonderful. But it's nothing that can be naively brushed aside as, "Well, we didn't know what we were doing."
Anyway, I don't mean to rail on you but do you see what I mean?
