Hi, Jose!
Yeah, I've had just about enough histrionics in my life, as well! Collosians 2 talks about "entering in to those things which are not seen", and, to me, bad science, demonically-based religion/"spirituality", and all other "hyped-up" crap are in that category.
My Mom is a retired counselor, with a double Masters: Family Counseling, and Social Work. She's always been a very kind and intelligent type of person, and I admire what was her life's work; she does hospice work, now. Her field does not, of course, encompass salvation knowledge, but I believe she had a childhood salvation experience.
When I returned to university, post-TF, I took a good hard look at psychology, and reached the same conclusions, more or less, as the "four myths about psychotherapy" stuff I posted earlier.
Human interaction, the well-intended kind, is not evil, necessarily, it's just not good enough, and does not encompass "all things pertaining to life and godliness"; of course. It's man reaching out, and inwardly, even to an idolotrous extent, as in TP, but it doesn't reach up, to God, and that is it's limitation; I'm afraid. And, there are certain things which are NOT mere opinion.
I went halfway throught the LCDC, or as it was called previously, CADAC. No real power to change permantly was available there; either. What resulted the majority of the time was a rearrangement of symptoms; not a deliverance or cure of any sort; which I HAVE seen in Christian counseling. A very good book on the subject is Jay E. Adams' "Competent to Counsel" (Zondervan Publishing Company - July 2, 1986, ISBN: 0310511402).
By the way, I don't make a very good guinea pig, either, Jose.
For some reason, and I think it MIGHT have something to do with my past (!), I just cannot let people lead me into suggestible "altered state" crap menatality, any more; inagine that ;) !!!
