Here on the board I've noticed that in most of our posts we use the term SGA to talk about all the young people who grew up in thefamily. But SGA specifically refers to second generation ADULTS, but we are talking about all the children, teens and young peoplewho were born and/or grew up in the Family. It might be good to steamline our language, for accuracy we can say the "secondgeneration youth", or "second generation members", "those of the second generation", any terms that are accurate.
In the family in the late '80s word came from on high defining the anacronyms. PC=pre-schoolers (2-4); YC=young children (5-7);OC=older children (8-10); JETTS=junior teens 11-13, with the 'end-time' bit thrown in for effect; JT=junior teens (14-15); ST=seniorteens (16-17); YA=young adults (18-20); SGA=second generation adults (21 and over, born and raised in the family); FGA=firstgeneration adults (the parents and old timers). I remember a young new disciple in Poland asking me but where do I fit in? Well,finally people in her category became known as "nationals".
The School Vision stuff had some good points, in fact a lot of the young people in those days had a great time, sometimes it was ayear long summer camp. Problem was is that in some places some suffered the abuses that are we are forced to refer to so often.Most of the sexual abuse seems to have happened before the school vision because the family's official ban came in 1987, and theschool vision began in 1988. But then came "The Last State", Victor Camps, etc. Correct if I'm wrong but some school homes didnot go to the extremes that occured in some of the other places. I truly do remember some wholesome, fun, good times at ourschool. We didn't have a teen program, I was with the Jetts, their overseer and teacher. We had the scholastics, get outs,swimming, lots of games and activities, etc. BUT oh how it was short lived! It's true the good times didn't last that long... the victorprograms started, parents started going to re training camps, then the TS revolution began and the leaders started splitting upfamilies. In my group brothers and sisters were split up, the "rebellious ones" had to leave with one of the parents to TS status! It'sfunny here I was reminiscing thinking of the good times, but then I hit a reality check point. I remember now the horrors and thenightmare.
The good cannot be sorted out from the bad. It's impossible.
